Do you serve beer??
Horrible place. Overpriced poor quality food... micro size chowder cup for 8 cad definitely not worth it. Fairly fresh bread instead of biscuit. Fish cake should be called potato cake since barely any fish in there... the only star award goes for the view. Highly NOT reccomended
MoreWe had the best lobster sandwich there during our trip in Cape Breton. Certainly will come back if opportunity arises. Definitely recommended.
MoreDelicious with a beautiful view, a must try if you're in the area!
Not good not bad. The chowder is very salty/“sea watery”, it’s more a fish soup than a chowder. The crab cakes were “ok”, the onion rings tasted pretty meh. Supermarket/frozen and heated afterwards is my guess. The view here is amazing, which people come for I’d say. My suggestion: get a lunch at co-op and enjoy it on a picnic bench outside ^_^ You’ll enjoy it more (in my opinion) than the food inside.
MoreChowder was disgusting. Had no seasoning or flavour, tastes like it was thickened by gelatine and had very little chunks of fish. Didn’t finish it. Biscuit was a 2 bite round hard dough ball. We also ordered clams, it was cheap little strips - no flavour. Won’t return. Staff also weren’t friendly.
MoreNice and simple place, for a stop along the way, with spectacular views.
The best mussels we ever tasted, tender and juicy!
Amazing food made simple with a breathtaking view. Seafood Chowder A+. Excellent Lobster Roll !!
MoreI would recommend that you do the take out so that you can enjoy the great view of the water when the weather is good. Good fish and chips and good clam strips. A pleasant place to eat at and visit.
MoreAbsolutely loved the place!!!! Randomly discovered this gem of a place during our trip to the Cabot trail and it was one of the best things that happened during the trip. The view from the place is simply gorgeous and they have benches outside where you can have the most amazing meal with a spectacular view! I would love to revisit the place if I’m in Cape Breton :) The place deserves way more credits and stars. I would give them more than 5 starts if possible.
MoreGood location, the chowder is very rich and delicious!
Fresh quality seafood at affordable prices. This place has been a great spot for chowder but also fresh fish and chips, not fancy but great authentic east coast food.
MoreDelicious seafood place, just off the main stretch. Fantastic location, right on the point. This is not a fancy place, its almost like eating in a (clean) little fishing cabin with solid tables and benches. You order your food at the counter and someone brings it out to you. We had fish and chips and a fish burger, but there seemed to be a lot of "real" seafood too such as whole clams and lobster. Quick service, good food!
MoreThe chowder has lobster in it, which they don’t advertise but they should! It was a good surprise. Very yummy.
MoreOne of those perfect restaurants. Simple yet amazing.
We didn't eat here. My review is sticky the view which was amazing! A great compliment to any meal served here.
MoreWe had excellent seafood meals here - and we will be back
Expected more. To be advertised in the Nova Scotia booklet as a place to eat ... we went out of our way to do so. The salad and sweet potatoes were sold out, and the fries were fries. The muscles were nothing special spectacular, however the chowder was ok. Not worth the trip.
MoreSeafood linguini was awesome! Good place, great service... Convenient place to stop along Cabot trail. They do sit in or you can get it to go for picnic.
MoreExcellent food! A bit on the pricey side but well worth it! Definitely have the chowder - best I ever tasted!!
MoreIt was amazing to be there amazing experience and very gud taste soooooo yummy 😋. Should try that when you get a chance. Also this restaurant is on very good place very beautiful veiw from every side also they have outside tables and they table serve as well. Parking is free here and big area also there's a light house on the 1 corner of the restaurant. They serve dinner until 7 o' clock. very nice clean and friendly environment.
MoreSuch a great spot! The service was great and the staff were so kind and chatty. The food was amazing with the authentic Maritime Chowder.
More- Crab and Lobster sandwich were tasty.- For the fish and chip the fries were nice and the fish was nicely crisped. - For a place called "Chowder House" the chowder itself was underwhelming.- The seating area is great. Nice view.
MoreThe chowder is very tasty, the fisherman's platter just so so. The service is fast food style, to place my order I waited in line for 30 minutes in a small room (5 or 6 tables) with a dozen sweaty tourists. I cannot say I'd recommend the experience.
MoreFantastic seafood chowder. Very fresh, home made flavour, filled with seafood. The crab was sweet and tender. Lots of big pieces of lobster. They have local beer. It's situated beside a light house on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Enjoy a delicious meal while watching the fishing boats.
MoreGreat place to eat.
Excellent food and service
Food was ok ,staff was very friendly and the view was great
We visited the Chowder House as walk-ins. We were seated very quickly & things only got better after that. We both had the lobster. This is a very simple and casual place so the presentation wasn't a priority but that's just my observation, not a criticism. The plates looked just fine and had no impact on the taste. Our lobsters were cooked perfectly and were absolutely delicious. Our service was great and very friendly. There were several locals there & everyone seemed to know one another which added to our experience. Hopefully we'll have the opportunity to visit again.
MoreAmazing East Coast experience. Chowder is off the hook. View is amazing. Service is very hospitable. A must for any Cabot Trail explorer. Prices are reasonable.
More40+ years ago I had great seafood chowder somewhere in Nova Scotia. In my first return to the province since then, I searched in vain for any as good. I began to think I was exaggerating how good that chowder had been. Until today, when I ate at Chowder House.
MoreGood food, reasonable price. In stead of waiting in the take out line, we decided to dine in. Still have a great view from inside, while we enjoying the food, but the restaurant do not have many windows, so it's a little bit too warm. Overall, 👍.
MoreI think that our soup would have been better if it came out of a can. Maybe it did. We were rather disappointed.
MoreSandwich ( both crab and lobster ) have more mayonnaise than seafood.Chouder quite bad, does not worth it.And ya, pretty location. But sincerely, better bring a sandwich with you
MoreAlways will have a special place in my heart
Food is pretty good and seafood tastes fresh. The service is a bit long but relax and enjoy the view while waiting. Really a nice place to stop while doing the Cabot Trail.
MoreHands down vest chowder I've ever had. Fresh bread with it was a nice touch. Slightly pricey but the food is worth it
MoreFood was good! No table service, have to go up to order and retrieve your meal when called. Decent prices and good proportions. Quaint, little seafood shack.
MoreGood seafood, casual, nice view.
Opened late with 20 people standing outside and than told us no table service. We left.
MoreA delicious seafood spot for lunch or dinner on the Cabot Trail. Beautiful scenery from the cliff. The seafood chowder is especially delicious but a bit pricey for the size. In general, I highly recommend this place; it gives an authentic feel of the Canadian Maritimes.
MoreWonderful experience. Stunning views and a down to earth, cozy interior. Generous crab in the crab cakes, really interesting potato-fish cakes, and lovley chowder. Not particularly cheap, but absolutely worth it in our view. About 75 for a meal for four with drinks. Felt like stepping into another time. Come here, gaze at the sea, stop at the lighthouse, and enjoy.
MoreSimple yet super delish!
Nice venue. We had the fish & chips but have had better
Nice little spot beside the lighthouse. While the building could use a coat of paint, looks are deceiving. Wonderful staff and great food. Would recommend stopping by and trying it out.10/10 would eat here again.
MoreExtremely disappointed in this place! Paid 41 dollars for 2 ‘bowls’ (more like cups) of subpar chowder, a tiny portion of sweet potato fries, and 2 cans of iced tea. Complete ripoff! You’re better off visiting other restaurants in the area, don’t waste your time or money making the trek up here.
MoreWe planned our day to we could spend lunch here. When we arrived we were sad to see it closed even though everywhere online says they are open. You need to do a better job updating your hours as we ended up having to back track 20 minutes each way to get food. Added an extra hour to our busy day because there are no other restaurants in town
MoreThe oysters were sweet and fresh, the Atlantic chowder was delicious. The view of the ocean was very nice. It really cheered up the whole family. A great place to go along the way of a road trip.
Moreso far the best fish chowder from Halifax to CBI. Nothing but fish )
The seafood chowder is exceptional, 5 stars. It was brimming with fresh seafood. Not a chowder person, but this was excellent, and I recommend it if you like chowder. Staff are friendly, and they took orders at our table. However, the decor is old and stuffy, and wasn't very clean. Our table was sticky. Frequented by seniors. Chowder was great, but we didn't like the atmosphere.
